wildlife and livestock

Whippoorwill Haus is situated in the beautiful countryside of Fayette County. Along with the beauty, the countryside is also home to various critters: snakes, spiders, scorpions, wasps, hornets, mosquitos, fire ants, opossums, coyotes, White-tail deer, jack rabbits, and many species of birds. Poisonous and stinging plants, such as poison ivy, poison oak, bullnettle plant, greenbriar vines, and sand burs are also found in the vicinity. Guests should refrain from handling or feeding any wild animals and avoid such plants. Whippoorwill Haus, Whippoorwill Hill Farm, and KD Longhorns Partnership are not responsible for any stings, bites, rashes or other hazards guests may receive from such wildlife, as they are a natural part of the property.

Texas Longhorns

the longhorns

Whippoorwill Hill Farm proudly owns two Texas Longhorn steers, “Mack” and “Tex”. They are usually visible directly south of Whippoorwill Haus. Although they are gentle in nature, their horns are extremely dangerous. The steers have habits of swinging their heads from side to side and will injure you should you be too close. DO NOT FEED the Longhorns and please STAY 5 FEET from the fence line.

Miniature Donkeys

horses and donkeys

“Julio” and “T” and “Buddy” are the farm’s horses. They are often accompanied by “Simon” and “Jackson”, the two miniature donkeys. Their red barn is visible from the south porch to the southwest. These animals have specific dietary needs, so please DO NOT FEED.

cattle

Whippoorwill Hill Farm breeds and raises cattle. Sometimes they are near the houses and may be viewed safely from behind the fence. PLEASE DO NOT CROSS CATTLE GUARD.
