Newly updated Whippoorwill Haus.

Welcome to Whippoorwill Haus!

In 1969, Joseph F. Meyer and his bride, Rosemary, decided to find vacation property in the Texas countryside to enjoy with their four children. They found a retired cotton farm near the then-quiet town of Round Top (The Round Top Antiques Festival was just a budding idea at that point!). Christened as “Whippoorwill Hill Farm”, the property was simply composed of rolling hills, massive oak trees, a cozy 2 bedroom house and a few barns.

Over the decades as the Meyers became grandparents, additional space was needed for family gatherings. In 1991 “The Bunkhouse” was completed and hosted everything from birthday and bridal parties to midterm studying, late night porch talks, and of course cousin pranks (short-sheeting the beds included). In 2012 the main house was rebuilt to continue to accommodate another new generation of Meyers. As Round Top began drawing more tourist attention, the Meyers decided to give guests a chance to unwind among its views and enjoy its proximity to town; so, the Bunkhouse also received a makeover and new name. In 2018, “Whippoorwill Haus” was established.

We hope you enjoy the remodel as well as the rich history of the entire property.
